The Normal Christmas Gift Is Not For Me

I’ve never been one to ask for a normal gift under my LED christmas treeFor the past forty-three years of my life, I would always wish for something unique. {Believe it or not|You may not think what I say is true}, I would always get my wish granted by Santa Clause, who ever since I’ve been a small child I’ve believed in.

As an example, one year for Christmas I wished that Santa would make two men fall for me by the end of January. The smirk was beautifully carved on my face, because I was thinking Santa made it happened. And for the following year, so for a second year I thought I would make a big wish, which is I would meet a man on a train when I go to Berlin. And then three days before the next Christmas day, when I went to Germany on the train, a man spilled dark coffee at me. That man became my husband, Ralph. Now that is a great gift no one gets under their LED xmas tree.

This year, I am already through of wishing something for my self. I would like to wish something great for one of my patient who is suffering from diabetes. She is supposed to have her foot cut off that she is losing to the disease on the 1st of January, because it got infected . She is a Native American, and a mother of six girls; her youngest daughter is only three and her oldest in nine. She lives alone since her mother died of a heart attack six months ago. Her life will be a lot different if she has the operation, knowing that her income only comes from a simple family business of pottery and blown glass.

If I can decide what I really wanted this Christmas season, it would be that I will be able to perform the operation very well, and let me give her the bet advice I can, and let her follow it. A less realistic wish is that people in powerful positions like government would care more about disadvantaged groups.

Holiday Stress For A Super Mom

Apparently, my mom tells me, that everyone  the Christmas sadness one time or two in their life.I always thought that it was impossible.Christmas is my favorite. Every year I look forward to Christmas more than any other holiday. they are correct really. I’ve got the Christmas blues. Christmas stress have officially arrived. I can’t face the idea of holiday garland.

I don’t know what’s gotten into me. I just feel so tired lately. I was planning on getting presents for all my list this week, but if I’m not in the right mood I just can’t go shopping.  It’s my personal Christmas shopping principle to have “the right kind of cheer” whenever you shop because it will reflect a great deal with the gifts you choose. As if things couldn’t get any worse, mu husband Jim was talking to his boss who mentioned how much fun he had at last years dinner party so essentially invited himself. It must have slipped my husbands mind to tell me again yesterday.

On top of everything else like the gifts I still have left to buy, and the Christmas stress I have going on, I still have a dinner party to get ready. I need to switch into my Superwoman mode right now. There’s nothing going on. I’m just too tired. I hope I’m not coming down with the flu or something.  It’ll be a blow for the kids. People have come to expect the happy cheerful me at Christmas time. I don’t want to bring down the party.

Ugh. I truly don’t feel very good.Pardon me…. WHAT!? I’m officially out of my Christmas stress.

I just found out that Jim and I are having a baby! Bring on the party! I guess the red garland might get hung this year.

Here Is What I’m Asking For This Year

Everyone wants to get something they look forward to for Christmas, and hopefully we’ll get something nice this year. For some of us we want something under the pink christmas tree and others want something else. As the song goes however we can’t always get what we want. What I want for Christmas this year is that I would like to have something that I really want for myself. I’d been saving for some years now for this, and it would really be helpful for me and my husband Labron.

This year if its possible I’d like to buy a car, so that I can go places I want to when I want to, I could just get up and go. I actually have a car right now that I drive only if under work hours, since it’s a company car. Generally there is a rule against us using our company vehicles for doing our own thing, like getting groceries or other chores. My hubby Labron drives his car to the office every day, but we don’t work in the same direction so I have to take the bus. Aside from that, I would like to have a new and handy digital camera so I could take pictures whenever I happen to go to a place that is unfamiliar. Then I could see what wonderful pictures I could take, and add to my current collection, it would be a very good testiment to the passion I have for it.

After many years of delivery driving the road has become my best buddy. It would also be nice to have to be able to find some type of hobby for non-work hours. It surely doesn’t bore me at all or let me think of something else rather than thinking about some problems or being alone in the road. That is what I want for Christmas this year, and now that I’ve written this my hopes are sky high, so hopefully I’ll get lucky black christmas tree.

I Get Flustered During The Holidays

Flipping Christmas

The holidays can bring a lot of fun and happiness, but along comes stress as well. Yearly, I have to go through the stress of this festive season. When I think about it, I view Christmas in two lights, as both the happiest and most tiring day of the calender year. Why? Due to that I think about something that I haven’t done at all this year, and with another one approaching quickly I don’t know if I’ll be able to make my goal. Me having my baby isn’t making the season any easier on me. My man Labron, he just helps me relax and makes sure I don’t worry myself to death at this holiday that comes once a year and always ends up ok. Everything down to picking up my new upside down christmas tree stresses me out!

I always believe though that maybe it’s the only time of this year that I get to notice some of the things I don’t possibly have, that’s why I go to this some sort of Christmas stress. Every year when Christmas eve arrives things seem like they will be ok. I get to see people I don’t always see often, especially my parents, since they live in New Orleans and we are in the state of California, and even my nieces and nephews. That being said, on occasion we don’t push them to come to our house over the holidays for the reason that I know they have a lot of stuff to do as well.

Due to everything, I try to do a few things I’ve learned over the years to distract myself. I usually plan ahead and list down all the things to prepare. My husband manages to help me out by giving me second ideas on our next planned expenses during Christmas too. Next year my hope is that we will be able to spend Christmas away from home, the hope being the stress levels would be lower. I look forward to things I have coming that will bring me pure enjoyment, for example I have my chandelier christmas tree.

When I Realized I No Longer Can Handle My Job

While reflecting on the past few years I posed a questions to myself and discovered that I had lost the love for my job. Why do I work, and more importantly why do I work a job that I don’t like? Life seems too short and I figure it’s high time I go find myself a new vocation. Of course what logically follows from that is an inquisition as to what new career path I would enjoy following.

First I figured I should think why I work. People work hard all year long looking forward to when they can wake up to the sound of their cheerful children shaking presents under the {christmas wreath}. That’s the image that get’s me out of bed in the morning. The world of business is stressful and people work hard with nothing but a paycheck to look forward to.

Next I thought about activities I enjoy. I like fishing! I could be a fisherman?  No that doesn’t sound as fun as the fishing I do. Then I thought that I like coaching my son’s football team. I suppose I could be a school teacher. I actually probably would like that, but the idea of going back to school for two more years, at my age, just doesn’t seem worth it.

When I think about things realistically I know I’m stuck where I am for now. Retirement is close enough that I really guess I can cope. My jobs not that bad anyway. It’s working my way up the corporate ladder that bothers me. There, that’s my solution! I’ll just stop working so hard. I’ll no longer take my cell home during my off hours, or update spreadsheets in front of the TV. My boss can’t can me. Even if he did my severance package would take me well into retirement.
Maybe this year I’ll just slack off, hang a decorated christmas wreath with the kids, and make some real memories. Now I have something major to think about. A merry Christmas, and a new years resolution to do less work. That’s one I may actually keep.

What Are Christmas Movies That Are Worth Watching?

White Christmas

Christmas Eve is the perfect time to settle beneath a cozy blanket, next to the glow of the Christmas lights and the smell of pine, to watch a family movie. From “It’s a Wonderful Life” and “White Christmas” to “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and “A Muppet’s Christmas Carol,” the festive films run far and wide. Selecting just the right story can be agonizing with so many great choices, so here is a list of the holiday’s very best offerings.

Christmas classics seem to reign supreme for the baby boomer generation. The black-and-white nostalgia of “It’s a Wonderful Life” (1946) captures the innocence and the good will of a nation struggling to regain a sense of optimism following World War II. James Stewart and Donna Reed give compelling performances in a heart-wrenching tale of a suicidal man’s realization that he meant so much to so many people. Another old Christmas season classic from the same era is “Miracle on 34th Street” (1947), which was remade in 1994. A department store Santa finds himself in court when he professes to be the real deal, which captures the heart of a six-year-old skeptic. Lastly, White Christmas (1954), starring Bing Crosby, where dance, romance and hard economic times take center stage.

For younger children and even nostalgic teens, the 1940s and 50s black-and-white films simply don’t interest them. However, there are many kid’s classics to choose from. With the advent of computers, stop-animation and claymation are dead arts; however, we can still enjoy them in classics like “Will Vinton’s Claymation Christmas Special,” “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” “The Year Without A Santa Claus,” “Davey and Goliath’s Christmas” and “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town.” For the puppet lovers, there’s “Emmett Otter’s Jug-band Christmas” and “A Muppet’s Christmas Carol.” Classic cartoons include “Frosty the Snowman,” “Garfield’s Christmas Special,” “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and “Mickey’s Christmas Carol.”

Some Christmas movies re-visited later in lfe may strike you as quite odd the second time around. “Babes in Toyland” (1986) is definitely one of those movies. Suddenly you recognize Lisa Piper as a young Drew Barrymore and Keanu Reeves as “Jack Be Nimble.” At its heart, it is a story about a child who grows up too fast, but on the exterior there is an evil villain bowling his home down the streets of Toyland, bizarre minions fighting toy soldiers and a rather fantastical setting. Of course, there were many other versions of this tale as well, most notably the film featuring Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy.
