What Factors Affect Motivation In The Workforce?

In the workforce, many wonder what factors affect motivation. Understanding what motivates a worker is key for a leader. Throughout the years, there have been several theories in print that talk about motivation. Most agree that when one is motivated, a situation is presented or developed that makes a person strive to do more.

As a leader, there are several ways to motivate your workers.

Through Curiosity:If something is presented to a person that peaks their interest, they are more willing to complete the task. The reason being is that their interest is satisfied as they learn going from task to task. Think about it, you’re less likely to do things that are boring, the same goes for others.

Through Challenges:A person is apt to be more motivated if they are working towards a meaningful goal whether it is at work or in their personal life. To achieve that goal, and to feel as if it was worth something, the task should be increasingly difficult for them to attain.

Through Control:People like to feel as if they are control of their environment and of what they are doing. If they know that once they complete a goal and then know the reward, this can help motivate them to get the work that is needed done. This lets them feel as if they are controlling their outcome.

Through Competition: There comes a satisfaction when one compares themselves to another and sees that they are doing better in some aspect. This is a good way to motivate several people at once as they are in competition with one another. There are people, though, that are not motivated through competition and may actually demotivate them in the process.

Through Recognition:When one’s work is recognized, they are more likely to be motivated to do more. With recognition, they should not be compared to another’s work. Their work should be able to stand on its own with its own rewards. Recognition shouldn’t be a routine thing – make it random and unexpected for best results.

7 Easy Ways To Sustain Your Motivation And Get Fit

Maybe you have experienced this before whereby you have decided to improve your health and fitness and in the first instance you feel really motivated. Perhaps you saw an inspirational movie that caused you to take action, maybe a friend of yours you hadn’t seen for a long time showed up having lost a heap of weight or having piled on muscle mass or maybe you are just sick of feeling lethargic and overweight. Whatever the initial stimulus was, you began exercising and then continued to exercise for a while.

However after a while your motivation decreased, you got busy at work, you got tired of making the effort or the results weren’t as good as you’d hoped for and you unconsciously quit your healthy exercise lifestyle. If that all sounds familiar then here are a few easy ways to help regain and sustain your motivation for a healthier lifestyle:

Try setting an enjoyable goal. For example, what about planning out a mountain biking/kayaking/hiking holiday in an exotic tough part of the world such as the Himalayas,The Alps or The Candadian Rockies. With this trip in mind you really have a goal to aim for. You will need to be in good physical health in order to enjoy your trip to the fullest. If your trip is in 5 montsh time then you can plan a realistic schedule with your fitness goals in mind.

Optin to take part in a local area event. I bet there are plenty of local events that you can get involved with simply have a look on line. Choose one of these events as a target to shoot for. Inform a close friend of yours about your future intentions so they can act as a buddy and provide encouragement to you and come to support you on the day.

Take up a sport or hobby, this doesn’t have to be an ultra serious thing just a light hearted game of soccer or hockey at the weekends but it gives you an easy and enjoyable way to monitor your fitness levels. Of course the initial couple of sessions may be very taxing but you will soon notice an improvement and start to look and feel better.

Visualise. Ok this might sound a bit odd at first but try and find a bit of time each day to sit and visualise in your minds eye exactly how you wish to feel and look. Carrying this out trigger powerful signals to be sent to your sub conscious mind that are about your everyday decisions and day to day actions. Repeat this daily and continuously and your behaviour will naturally alter itself and begin to take you towards your goals automatically. This works by the way, nearly all top sportsmen use this in some form or other.

Try to involve both your friends family and even your pet dog if you like. You are much less likely to lose interest and quit the more people that are involved. You are much less likely to not go and exercise if your friend is on the other end of the phone asking where you are.

Educate yourself. Be curious find out about how to build muscle up, find out how to get a 6 pack, find out how to shed pounds, find out what muscle building nutrition you need for no nonsense muscle building and so on. By improvingyour knowledge you are more than likely to increase the rate of your improvement and therefore maintain motivation levels.

Don’t compare yourself to others. I don’t care who exactly you are there is aways going to be people fitter, sexier, more muscular or whatever than you are. Accept this fact and realise that you all go through this process of life from your own differing perspectives. Pay more attention to how you feel than to anything else, if you feel good then you are likely getting healthier.

So, with those tips in mind go hit the gym and do whatever it is that you enjoy doing to keep fit, build lean muscle mass or whatever else you want to do, you can do it, just keep it fun. The following is highly recommended for lean muslc growth burn the fat build the muscle book.

Why Do Employees Lack Motivation In The Workplace

Is Motivation Truly Motivation

All of us are born with motivation. It’s embedded within us. In fact, all of us have our own unique style of motivation and are driven by it each day. However, pop-psychology along with the sales training industry has decide for us what motivation is and have done so based upon their own biased research. We’ve all paid a price for the confusion, but employees and their managers more so. The reason, managers expect that these emotional seminars to create long term life changes within their employees. Most of the time, these seminars come at a high cost with only temporary results. What they have done is confused enthusiasm for motivation. What is enthusiasm?

Enthusiasm is defined as fervor, zeal, explosive eagerness, rapturous intensity, and intense conviction or worthiness. It is a temporary emotion. Temporary in the sense that it can only be sustained for a brief period of time until it is either replaced by another emotion or a sustained feeling. (See the article: “The Difference Between Emotions and Feelings” for more info.) Think for a moment about how long can you sustain laughter, or how long can a temper tantrum last? For how long can you cry? How long can one remain in a excited or thrilled state?

That is why you can go to any number of so called “motivational seminars” get really “pumped” only to have that enthusiasm and energy fade away after just a few days. A form of social hysteria is what you’re really experiencing at such seminars, albeit in a positive form but never the less very transient. These events should be more accurately called “Enthusiasm Seminars.”.

Employee Motivation

The workplace is one of the main areas where motivation becomes a case of discord. It begins with the gross profit numbers. When profits are down, the company usually looks for an internal cause. Upper management gets pressured and pressures middle management who then pressures lower management who in turn pressures employees to “Get Motivated!”.The solution is usually a motivational seminar, workshop, or other program to get everyone fired up and back up to peak performance.

And because of that, motivation is managed as if it were a learned skill of “doing”(See the article: “What is Motivation” for a more in depth discussion of true motivation). With such training however a process of failure begins, littered with stress, confusion and self-sabotage. As stated above, programs like “Motivational (Enthusiasm) Seminars” only result in temporary effects. You can only sustain your enthusiasm for just so long. Your enthusiasm will eventually diminish. As this occurs, you’ll usually ask: ‘What’s the matter with me?Lack of confidence and doubt follows as the stress builds. Does this sound familiar to you? Understand that there is nothing wrong with you and there is nothing to fix. You are actually behaving within the parameters of mental health. The complication rest with our cultures inaccurate view of what motivation really is. Motivation can’t be a learned skill. It is naturally present. It is the expression of your state of “being”. Natural motivation drives you to leave your bed each morning. There is a significant need for you to express your unique existence to the world.

Anyone who teaches motivation as a “learned skill of doing,” exhibits their lack of knowledge on the basic functions of motivation. This is the reason why so many people are confused about motivation and why pop-psychology continues to design inherently flawed testing methods, books, seminars, and workshops which sadly point people down the wrong path. That being said, some will find value in the information but only uniquely motivating to them.

Westernized cultures (Particularly Americans), live in a capitalistic society that cannot afford to define motivation as simply a state of “being”. That is why Motivational Gurus, do not use Mother Teresa as an example of what it means to be motivated even though she is a fine example of natural, authentic motivation. From their viewpoint, there is no profit in using her as an example motivation.

The Ultimate Answer to Employee Motivation in the Workplace

The key to employee motivation in the workplace is honest and consistently effective. If you like what your work, it is beside the point to seek out motivation because it is already present. If any professional feels the need to attend a “Motivational Seminar,” they should seriously consider another profession. Imagine for a moment that your surgeon is running late to your pre-surgery consultation because he or she has yet to return from a “motivational seminar”. How might you feel? For that matter, what might you do? Would you put yourself in jeopardy~Would you still go through with the surgery with this person at the helm}?

Motivation comes naturally to each of us from a deep level within. No one should have to go out and find their motivation. Your motivation is not somewhere out there, it’s intrinsic, It’s within you. Ask yourself why plumbers, carpenters, electricians, doctors, computer technicians, and in fact most professionals do not have a desperate need to attend motivational seminars in order to get fired up to do their job.

The real secret to all this, is to discover the exact style of motivation you already posses. We call this “Your Life Theme“. It is as though you view the world through a unique set of prescription glasses. It is this prescription which dictates how you should live life and what career you should pursue. Discovering it and learning how it guides you is vital in creating meaningful, sustainable change in your personal and business life.

It is through discovering who employees are at their very core that management will be able to generate natural and effective motivation in the workplace. Managers who discover their “Life Theme” as well as that of their employees, are capable of building dynamic, highly productive and profitable teams where everyone has a greater sense of fulfillment and sustained cooperation. Management will also know which projects should be delegated to which individuals in order to attain the highest level of productivity. Each person will be able to maximize their self-expression with each project, completely by-passing the typical, costly debating and negotiating process. No longer will ego-battles slow down production and cause inner-office struggle. This is the future of business. Discover Your Life Theme.

Motivation: Wie eine Vision Dir zu Motivation verhilft

Motivation Erfolg

Deswegen frage Dich: Was ist meine Vision?

Kannst Du fühlen, was mit Deiner Motivation passiert?!

Yippieh!

Alles Liebe und viel Motivation für Dich!

Stop Avoiding Things You Need To Do

Did you ever feel like you wanted to join the Procrastinator’s Club, but never quite got around to it? At some point in time, procrastination plagues us all, some more than others, but everyone at some point gets a bite from the bug.

We’ve all heard the quote, “Why put off till tomorrow what you can do today?” For some of us, this is the only motivation we need, while others struggle with putting things off for weeks, months, or even years.

You can overcome procrastination and it doesn’t have to be a way of life for you. With a little focus and the right attitude, coupled with some practical tips and techniques, procrastination can be a thing of the past.

Here are five strategies you can use today to help you bite the procrastination bug back:

1. Set small goals. Many times, we feel overwhelmed with a task, so we continue to put it off until we have no choice but to complete it.

Combine the new projects with the old projects we already put off, and you have a recipe for some serious procrastination.

Procrastination can be avoided right from the start by setting small quickly achievable goals. Here are some tips for setting those small goals:

* Break your big project up into smaller steps. These steps can be completed systematically one at a time. Make sure you have well-defined end points for each smaller goal, that way you have something to keep you going.

* Setting small goals provides you a nonstop feeling of accomplishment as they’re attained. You can keep yourself going and feel better about yourself, with each success you attain.

* Giving yourself break points allows you to focus on each individual task and takes the overwhelming feeling out of the job. In addition, they give you a prime place to get up, move around, and refresh yourself for the next step.

2. Avoid distractions. We all do it. We sit down to start working, but have to get back up and grab some coffee. Then we sit back down and check email, then voicemail, and then email again just to make sure no one sent a message while we were checking the voicemail. How long did that take?

* Try checking your email only twice a day instead of every 5 minutes. You need to have some time to focus!?

* Get everything you want, need or think you need before you sit down to start working so you can concentrate.

3. Delegate. Start giving some of your responsibilities to others instead of hogging them for yourself and creating more stress. Stress leads to procrastination, procrastination leads to tight deadlines, and tight deadlines lead to more stress; it’s a vicious cycle.

4. Keep a list. A constant reminder of the things you absolutely need to do is a great way to avoid procrastination. Note cards or a small pocket notebook is great for keeping your list.

* Keeping a list puts your daily to-dos in front of you at all times for quick reference.?

* Include your small goals on your list. Get started early each day completing those small, easy goals. Doesn’t it feel great to scratch through the things you’ve completed? Before you know it, the whole list is marked off!

5. Turn it off. When you’re done for the day, shut down everything work related. Don’t take it home if you can help it. Turn your brain off at the end of your workday. By giving your brain a break, you help avoid over exhaustion and keep your mind fresh for the next day.

Recharge your batteries by spending time doing the things you love.

Try several of these out for a few weeks. Studies have shown it takes 21 days to form a habit and if you truly want to beat procrastination, you have to make productivity a habit.

When you’ve made a habit of one of the strategies, pick out another one, and before you know it, you’ll be the personification of productive!

How Can You Assume Self Esteem on You?

Self esteem, a simple word with various definitions. But actually, there is a single idea that concludes the definitions. The thoughtis about how an individual sees himself. Someone’s self esteem is affected by many factors which are related to the success and inability in his/her life. It is as well as the regard that one has for himself depending on those success and failure. The regard for someone’s self (or we called it self regard) can be decided by belief and emotions. Later on, it can give impact to someone’s behavior

There are two distinguish categories of needs with regard to self esteem. Those needs require respect. The first is respect from other people, while the second is respect for himself (or we called it self respect). Those respects are said to motivate one’s esteem and give impact to the way of an individual sees himself.

Definition Number 1

People considered self esteem as a situation of an individual’s behavior based on his successes and incapabilitys. But, this definition is no longer appropriate, as it implies that self esteem is temporary and fully depended on the recent situation of a person. In detail, someone has self worth when he is successful. But that self worth will be gone by the time he fails.

Definition Number 2

The next definition of self esteem is self worth which is stable and built through the years. It implies that someone’s self esteem is based on their competency to face any challenges and difficulties in life. It indicates that self esteem is inherent in one person and cannot be taken away easily by mere failures. The person views himself as someone with worth because of his accumulated success and even by his inabilities.

Measuring Self Esteem

To find out someone’s degree or level of self esteem, we have definitive systems. Recently, there are two tests used for calculating a person’s self worth and self regard. The tests are in the written form, namely Rosenberg and Coopersmith Self Esteem Tests. Someone’s self worth will be evaluated through the questions in both tests. The numbers of questions in both tests are distinguish. There are around ten questions in Rosenberg test and more than fifty questions in Coopersmith test.

For some people, self esteem tests will make them suffering, especially people with high and low self esteem. Low self esteem in someone can direct him to the low confidence and insecurity. In the other hand, high self esteem can lead people to the state of having too much self confidence. To change the situation  of their self esteem is not an easy job, especially if someone is used to it. It is completely dissimilar from the common belief in society. They are sure that the situation of self esteem can be easily changed.
