People usually go on camping trips to enjoy themselves while spending some time in the great outdoors. Normal people do, at least. We have some family friends that said they absolutely hated camping trips, and would rather be working than go on one. Yet, every year, they went on at least two of them. We didn’t know where, but they were gone for several days.

Following them led me to the roof, where they had their big tent all set up, a large collection of magazines, and a zune 8gb player connected to some speakers. This appeared to be their “camping” spot. I decided to let them know I was there, and told them how much I liked their player.

After recovering from their initial shock, they started laughing as hard as they could. It appears this was “their” secret camping place, and a very relaxing one. The Tollbooth jail was condemned, because of the inhuman living conditions there, and in 1847 the new jail opened. Although the jail was classed as a custodial prison, from 1888 to 1935, it was also the only military jail in Scotland. Today the Stirling Old Town Jail is a tourist attraction, and was only renovated in the 1990′s. As well as guided tours, there is a glass paneled elevator that leads to a viewing deck at the top of the jail. Scone Palace

Huntingtower Castle

Found just west of Perth is Huntingtower Castle, a medieval pile. Even though the structure is originaly medieval, it has been significantly redeveloped throughout the majoprity of it’s history. The Ruthven family were the owners of the castle and lands from the 1100′s to the 1600′s. During this time the castle consisted of 2 separate towers, built 3 meters apart. When the Murray family took possession, later on in the 1600′s, they decided to merge the two towers, making the house look more like a regular country manor house. The bridging work between the two towers is still rather visible today, both outside and in.
