Are computer games taking over from sport?

Sporting games can appeal to anyone at all which is a huge problem for the real sports as they really only apply to the people who actually play the game itself. How close are the comuter games compared to the real sports? Do you really get any excercise at all from playing the sport in this way? Well the simple answer is . . . perhaps.  Obviously if you are buying say a golf game for the 360 or PS3 it is not going to do anything apart from save you money on one of those electric golf trolleys.

A big problem is that if you were to purchase a golf game on the wii the only part of the sport you are going to miss out on is the walking part. A lot of the pro's in golf do not bother to even walk the course as it is so how much are you really missing out on. Game developers are really keen to keep making the sporting games as realistic as possible and the Wii is able to take advantage especially from this using its motion control way of playing games. When you are playing the games it actually feels like you are playing the real thing which is especially true for sports such as golf and tennis. The new Wii atachment is out later this year which is going to put motion sensing technology at an even better rate than it already is now. This is a big problem for sport as the new technology is going to enable games to be made to be even more realistic than some of them are now. Does all of this really make a difference on anything at all? Well it sure is for the people who can’t afford to go out and pay fees at their local golf course. Everytime you wish to play golf all you have to do is walk to the console and switch it on.

I really do love games, but I personally think that they should stick to making the games that people that play them like and leave the sporting ones out of it. Some sports like golf involve huge talent and it would be a shame to see less and less of that develop over time because of computer games.

So next time your stuck between going out in the rain for a round of golf or plugging in the Wii for a bit of a game, stop and think, the real thing is always better so charge up those golf batteries and get playing!

From Fat to Skinny with Golf

To a lot of people when you mention golf it comes as somewhat a very boring and tedious game. If you tell it in an exercise form then they think what sort of exercise can I get from hitting a club?

Well I am going to tell you a private story of how golf assisted me in losing over 5 stone in pure weight. I was 24 years old. I am not at all a very lengthly person, but I weighed a massive 16 stones, I just could not stop sitting down and eating. It became apparent to me that I was over weight when I walked up a small flight of stairs and could barely catch my breath.

Something had to be done before I turned into something that was going to ruin my body for the rest of my life. I first started to try to go to the gym, but it was just too much I was in no physical state to be visiting the gym. Everything I tried to do just took my breath away. So one of my dear friends suggested that I go to the local golf club and start playing golf, the first thing that came to my mind was how the heck will that help?

But I gritted my teeth and took the plunge, I actually very much enjoyed my first game and it was very rewarding. I got a splash of sunshine and a breath of fresh air. But what was happening to my body was what shocked me I was using all of my muscles without even know. I regularly played 3 times a week and in 5 months I had lost all of my weight. I would definitely recommend golf to anyone.
