There is nothing quite like a romantic setting for a really romantic date. You could add to the romance by choosing the right extras to add. Adults often appear to value candles, candle sets and flowers for providing that mood.

The candle’s flickering, dim orange light is mesmerizing and it instantly relaxes all of the senses. One could use different types of scented candle sets that enhance the mood. Though these are extremely luring, they can be expensive especially when used regularly. The one way to enjoy these candles on a regular basis is to make them yourself.

Gather up all of your old candles and place all of them in one container, then place this container inside of another large container that has water in it and then place it on a fire. A double boiler is a must as it could be hazardous trying to melt the wax over direct heat. Buy new candles in bulk which is cheaper than the expensive ones in stores in case you do not have sufficient old candles.

Even though the aluminum containers are known to get extremely hot when you pour the hot wax inside of them, they are really the best choice. Use old glasses if you want designs and throwaway paper cups if you would like a simple tumbler look.

Make the wick by taking out one from an old candle or using white cotton straw. However, you are going to need to make sure that you rub enough of the wax on the straw so that it is taut, because this will make it a lot easier for you to insert the wick into the wax once you have placed it within the mould. When you add the color to the wax, do it slowly as you keep mixing it so you can stop as soon as you get the color you want. Pour the liquid wax in the container and add the wick slowly, ensuring that it goes right in the middle and straight down.

In the event that you want your candles to consist of different layers of colors, then you are going to need to melt the wax in some different containers and then add all of the appropriate colors to each of the lots. Molds chosen for multicolored candles must be tall, allowing the colors to be seen like bands of color. The colored wax must be poured into the container after the first layer has cooled off. This is important so that the colors do not get mixed up and become a grossly colored lump.

If you want candles that are fragranced, you may add an oil-based fragrance of your choosing to all of the wax that you have melted, this is supposed to be done right at the very end, once the color has already been added and then stirred since all of the heat may cause all of the fragrance to escape.

Fragrances are widely available, ranging from floral like rose and jasmine to lemon grass, tea tree and musk. Put the mould in the freezer after you have added the color, fragrance and the wick so that the candle can be taken out easily. You can even give scented candles as gifts. Your friends will love them.
